High School & Middle School Rugby

 

High School Player eligibility rules:

Players are eligible if they have not reached their 19th birthday by the September 1st that occurs at the start of the school year containing the competitive season, including the summer following that school year.   Example: Spring Season 2016: Player’s turns 19th on or after September 1, 2015.

Players, except those that have graduated, must be enrolled and attending class full time, as defined by the high school registrar or the registrar of the educational institution for the purposes of gaining a GED.

If the competition season extends beyond the end of the school year, the players may continue to participate in the competition provided that the players were otherwise eligible at the end of the school year.

Players must be within four (4) years of the moment the player first enrolled in ninth grade, regardless of when that player started playing rugby or had the ability to start playing rugby.

Under 15, High School club eligible player (14 years old and in 9th grade) MUST have a signed USA Rugby U15 waiver to coaches and the Rugby Montana Administrator before practice. The Administrator will notify coaches and applicable players after registration.

Middle School Player eligibility rules:

To be eligible for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade rugby, a player must be eleven to fourteen years old and enrolled as a 6th, 7th, or 8th grader at their school.

Fourteen year olds are eligible if they turn 14 prior to September 1st that occurs at the start of the competitive season.

6th grade players are eligible if both the player’s parent/guardian and coach determine that the player is both mentally and physically able to safely compete in the middle school program.  6th Grade eligible players MUST have a signed Rugby Montana waiver on file with the respective team and the Rugby Montana Administrator before practice.  The administrator will notify coaches and applicable players after registration.
